Gardian (Wali) Services for single Muslim Women

For a Muslim woman, having a guardian is a serious matter. The principle role of a guardian is to assist in vetting a prospective husband, to help look out for and protect a woman's interests as she considers marrying someone, to afford her the best possible advice, and to ultimately sanction or advise against marriage to that person. Ideally, and traditionally, the role of a guardian falls upon the women's father. However, that is not always an option, especially for Muslim women converts to Islam.

Our suggestion is for single Muslims woman who want, need or require a guardian for the purpose of marriage, to seek the aid of your father or a male relative, such as a brother, grandfather, uncle or responsible family member. If that's not a viable option, then seek the services of the Imam of the community to which you belong. If that is not available to you, then we can help you in sha Allah If this interests you, click here to read our rules and guidelines for guardian services.

    Tell us Your Story

MWB wants to hear about your experiences and concerns as a Muslim convert. What are the areas that we need to improve? What are your experiences in finding a welcoming commnnity?  race, and the relationship between converts and immigrant Muslims and communities. Over the years, we have amassed hundreds of beautiful stories of brotherhood, love and acceptance, and support, as well as testimonials of discrimination, ill-treatment, marginalization, and racism within the walls of  the sacred houses of Allah (masaajid).  If you have a story to tell, we are listening.
